Abstract
228,110. Lamblin, A. Jan. 24, 1924, [Convention date]. Cooling motors &c., air blast for; radiators, arrangement of. - A motor-vehicle radiator is constructed of one or more hollow plate elements, having gilled apertures, the elements being set vertically side by side or one behind the other and connected to upper and lower headers. A fan 20, Fig. 16, may be arranged between two such plate elements 1<1>, 1<2>, which are connected to common headers 16, 18. The plates may be bent to form V- or bow-fronted radiators, with the gills of the apertures directed either inwardly or outwardly. Radiators formed of such apertured plate elements may be arranged in various positions 27, 29, 33, Fig. 22, on the body of a racing car. The cooling-air may be admitted through forwardly-directed side louvres such as 30, and be discharged through the apertures of the elements, or, in the case of the radiator 33, be admitted through the radiator and discharged through a tail opening 34. The elements may be placed so that the gills of the apertures are exposed to the air flowing over the surface of the. body.
