Abstract
217,221. Schneider, H. June 4, 1923, [Convention date]. Cooling radiators, air deflectors for. - Relates to locomotives driven by internal combustion engines and having cooling radiators at their ends and fans driven by the engines at the inner sides of the radiators. Guide vane.s 4, 14 inclined towards the middle of the locomotive are inserted in openings arranged between the radiators and the engine room. The fans are so rotated in either direction that for either direction of travel the front fan draws fresh air through the radiator and expels it through the guide vanes towards the rear, while the rear fan draws fresh air through its guide vanes and forces this air through its radiator. The fans may be driven through a change speed and reversing gear.
