Description
EQUIPMENT MOUNTING APPARATUS
E.G. FOR A CAR STEREO APPARATUS
The present invention relates to an equipment mounting apparatus and, particularly to a mounting apparatus for mobile electronic equipment such as a car stereo apparatus.
When equipment is mounted on a predetermined fixing portion, it is customary that tapped holes are bored on the mounting surface portion of the equipment by tapping, whereafter screws that are inserted to a bracket secured to the fixing portion side are fitted into the tapped holes and fastened.
When the equipment is mobile electronic equipment, such as a car stereo, a disc auto changer or the like, screw insertion holes are bored on different positions of the bracket secured to the fixing portion side because the cars are manufactured by different car makers and the types of the cars also are different. The following arrangement is considered in order to solve the aforesaid problem.
As shown in FIGURES 2 and 3 of the accompanying drawings, a mobile electronic equipment 1, such as a car stereo and a disc auto changer includes an outer housing 2 having a mount surface portion 2a on which a number of sets of tapped holes 3a1 to 3a5, 3b1 to 3b5, 3c1 to 3c3 and 3d1 to 3d4 are formed. As shown in FIGURE 1, a bracket 5 comprises a first fixing portion 5a to be mounted on the chassis and a second fixing portion 5b to be attached to the mobile electronic equipment 1 side. The first and second fixing portions 5a and 5b are joined in substantially L-letter configuration in cross section. The second fixing portion 5b has screw insertion holes 5c, 5d bored thereon.To mount the mobile electronic equipment 1 to the chassis at its predetermined position, such as the inside of a trunk (car boot), the mobile electronic equipment 1 is mounted on the fixing portion of the chassis by fastening screws 7, 7 fitted through the screw insertion holes 5c, 5d of the second fixing portion 5b into any of the tapped holes 3 corresponding to the screw insertion holes 5c, 5d.
As described above, a number of tapped holes 3 are bored on the mount surface portion 2a of the outer housing 2 of the mobile electronic equipment 1 by tapping. When the tapped holes 3 are bored by tapping, the tapping needs a large quantity of cutting oil. If the cutting oil were left in the tapped holes 3 after the tapped holes 3 were bored, other members would be smudged or troubled from an electrical standpoint when the mobile electronic equipment is assembled or the mobile electronic equipment is mounted on the chassis. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out a degreasing to remove the cutting oil remaining in the tapped holes 3.Consequently, the number of process steps is increased and the degreasing work needs a large quantity of a degreaser solution, such as trichloroethane solution to degrease the remaining cutting oil, which unavoidably increases the cost involved when the mounting apparatus is produced. Moreover, because the degreaser solution must be treated after degreasing, it is necessary to install a treatment apparatus. Therefore, the cost involved when the treatment apparatus is installed also is increased so that the mounting apparatus becomes expensive.
It is, therefore, an object of the present invention to provide a mounting apparatus for equipment in which the above-mentioned problem can be solved.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a mounting apparatus for a mobile equipment in which the above-mentioned problem can be solved.
According to the present invention, there is provided an equipment mounting apparatus comprising:
a screw engagement portion having a hole bored on an equipment mounting portion and a stepped portion formed on a peripheral edge portion formed around said hole with so as to become concentric with said hole; and
a fixing member having an insertion hole into which a screw is inserted such that the centre axis of said insertion hole is aligned with the centre axis of said hole of said screw engagement portion, said fixing member in use fixing said equipment to a fixing portion by engaging said screw inserted into said insertion hole under the condition that said centre axes of said hole and said insertion hole are aligned with said peripheral edge portion.
The invention also provides a mounting apparatus for mobile equipment, said mobile equipment in use being supplied with an electrical signal, comprising:
a plurality of screw engagement portions, each of which has a hole bored on a mobile equipment and a stepped portion formed on a peripheral edge portion formed around said hole so as to become concentric with said hole, said stepped portion being formed by continuously changing a height of an edge portion of said hole in its circumferential direction; and
at least one fixing member of a substantially Lletter configuration having an insertion hole into which a screw is inserted such that the centre axis of said hole of a predetermined one of said plurality of screw engagement portions is aligned with the centre axis of said insertion hole, said fixing member fixing said mobile equipment to a predetermined portion of a car by engaging said screw inserted into said insertion hole under the condition that said centre axes of said hole and said insertion hole are agreed into said insertion hole.
According to the present invention, since the stepped portion is formed on the peripheral edge portion of the screw engagement portion used when the equipment is fixed to the fixing portion by screws, the hole and the peripheral edge portion can be formed by a simple press treatment. Therefore, it is possible to remove tapping used when the tapped hole is formed. Further, since the tapping is made unnecessary, the degreasing processing can be omitted and the number of the treatment process can be decreased and a treatment time can be reduced.
The invention will be further described by way of non-limitative example with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
FIGURE 1 is a perspective view showing the condition that a mobile electronic equipment is mounted on a chassis according to a premise of the present invention;
FIGURE 2 is a side view of an outer housing of the mobile electronic equipment according to the present invention;
FIGURE 3 is a cross-sectional view taken along the line III - III in FIGURE 2;
FIGURE 4 is a side view of an outer housing of a mounting apparatus of a mobile equipment according to an embodiment of the present invention;
FIGURE 5 is a front view showing a main portion of the mounting apparatus of a mobile equipment according to the present invention in an enlarged scale; and
FIGURE 6 is a cross-sectional view taken along the line VI - VI in FIGURE 4.
A mounting apparatus of equipment according to an embodiment of the present invention will now be described below with reference to the accompanying drawings. In the embodiment of the present invention, a mounting apparatus of a mobile electronic equipment for mounting a mobile electronic equipment on vehicle at a predetermined position, such as a trunk will be described by way of example. As the mobile electronic equipment, there can be enumerated a disc auto changer, a car stereo or the like.
As shown in FIGURE 4, a mobile electronic equipment 11 includes an outer housing 12, and the outer housing 12 has on its respective sides formed mount surfaces 12a on which a plurality of pairs of tapped holes 13 (13a1 to 13a5; 13b1 to 13b5; 13c1 to 13c3; and 13d1 to 13d4) are bored.
The thickness of the outer housing 12 is substantially the same as the pitch of a screw which will be described later on. The outer housing 12 accommodates an equipment body of the mobile electronic equipment 11. Each of peripheral edge portions 14 (14a1 to 14a5; 14b1 to 14b5; 14c1 to 14c3; and 14d to 14d4) of each of the tapped holes 13 is concaved with an inclination in the centre of the tapped hole 13. Further, the peripheral edge portion 14 changes its height in the circumferential direction continuously and includes a stepped portion extended in the centre axis direction of the tapped hole 13 between its peripheral edges across the centre of the tapped hole 13.
As shown in FIGURE 5, the peripheral edge portion 14 has a slit radially extended from the centre of the tapped hole 13.
Specifically, as shown in FIGURE 6, the peripheral edge portion 14 is deviated from the tapped hole 13 and shaped like a funnel in the tapped hole 13. The peripheral edge portion 14 changes its height continuously in the circumferential direction so that a predetermined stepped portion a extended in the centre axis direction of the tapped hole 13 is produced between its end edges which are opposed across the slit 15.
In FIGURE 6, reference numeral 5 depicts a bracket similarly to FIGURE 1. The tapped holes 13, the peripheral edge portions 14 and the slits 15 thus arranged are formed simultaneously when the outer housing 12 is produced from a metal plate by punch-press. The bracket 5 is arranged in exactly the same way as in FIGURE 1. Therefore, respective elements of the bracket 5 are marked with the same references and therefore need not be described in detail.
As shown in FIGURE 6, there is provided a tapping screw 16 that is used to mount the mobile electronic equipment 11 to the chassis through the bracket 5.
The mobile electronic equipment 11 can be mounted on the chassis at its predetermined portion, such as a bottom of a trunk as follows.
The tapping screws 16 that had been inserted into the screw insertion holes 5c, 5d of the bracket 5 secured to the bottom of the trunk come in engagement at their screw threads with the peripheral edge portion 14 along the stepped portion a of the peripheral edge portion 14, i.e., the continuous change of the height of the peripheral edge portion 14. When the tapping screw 16 is in engagement with the peripheral edge portion 14, the bracket 5 is tightly held between the screw heads of the tapping screws 16 and the mount surface 12 of the outer housing 12. In other words, the mobile electronic equipment 11 is mounted on the bracket 5 and the mobile electronic equipment 11 is installed on the bottom portion of the trunk of the chassis.
In the equipment mounting apparatus according to the embodiment of the present invention, since the fastening portion for the fixing screw is composed of the tapped hole 13 and the peripheral edge portion 14 with the predetermined stepped portion a instead of the tapped holes, it is possible to form the fastening portion by simple punching and deforming of the peripheral edge portion without tapping. Accordingly, the tapping is not used and the cutting oil is not required substantially so that the degreasing process can be removed. Thus, the treatment process can be reduced and the degreaser solution and the installations for treating the degreaser solution can be made unnecessary. Therefore, the equipment mounting apparatus can be made inexpensive.
According to the press-treatment, in particular, the tapped hole 13 and the peripheral edge portion 14 with the stepped portion can simultaneously be formed by one process and therefore the treatment process can be reduced remarkably.
A notch may be formed in the peripheral edge portion 14 of the tapped hole 13 so as to be extended in the shorter diameter direction from the tapped hole 13 or in the direction opposite to the slit 15 with respect to the tapped hole 13 in FIGURE 5. In this case, the peripheral edge portion 14 can be formed such that its height is continuously changed in the whole circumferential direction.
The fixing screws are not limited to the tapping screws 16 and may be normal screws. In that case, in order to maintain a necessary strength, it is possible to mount the mobile electronic equipment 11 on the bracket 5 with three or four screws.
The shape of the tapped hole and the shape of the peripheral edge portion can be changed arbitrarily. By way of example, the peripheral edge portion may not be deviated from the tapped hole and may be made concentric with the tapped hole. Further, the notch may be reduced in width, i.e., may be shaped like a slit.
Furthermore, the present invention is not limited to the equipment mounting apparatus and may be applied to a mounting apparatus for mounting other parts, such as a speaker or the like.
Having described a preferred embodiment of the invention with reference to the accompanying drawings, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to that precise embodiment and that various changes and modifications could be effected therein by one skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
