Abstract

Linear-dimension gauges.-A gauge for indicating the deflection of beams &c. under load comprises a base a having a sleeve c adapted to be moved against the action of a spring b when pressure due to the deflection being measured is applied to the adjustable cap d. A projection g on the sleeve engages the pin h of a dial gauge i, which may be rotated through an angle of 180‹. A gland k may be adjusted to grip the pin h so that it will not return to normal position when the load is removed, and the dial will then indicate maximum deflection. A hook m is provided for use when it is not convenient to position the cap d under the beam. In this case. the dial gauge i is turned through an angle of 180‹ so that a lower projection g<1> on the sleeve c engages the pin h. The base a is supported on a bracket on the beam, and the hook m is connected to a weight on the ground. The parts are locked for initial setting by passing a pin through the holes s, t.
