Abstract

227,896. Hunter's, Ltd., and Humphrey, A. M. Oct. 1923. Contact printing-frames.-A printing-frame 1, Fig. 1, for making one or a number of photographic prints in predetermined positions on a zinc or like sensitized plate, from a negative or negatives 22, has two adjacent true edges 3, 4 at right angles, and is mounted in trunnion or like supports 2. A rule formed of two graduated parallel bars 6, 7 joined at their ends by a bridge piece, 8, Fig. 5, slides along the true edges, and can be given a set position on the frame 1 by means of clips 10 attached to the true edges 3, 4 and fitting between the bars 6, 7. The rule has a cursor or cursors 13 provided with index marks 14, 15, Fig. 2, and a locating centre 2, 3, and looking screws. Both rule and cursor may have verniers. More than one rule may be provided when the frame is not square shaped. A lens may be provided for reading the locating centre 23. The rule has at one end stop pieces 9 for engaging the outer edge of the frame 1, together with springs 17 which pull the surfaces 5 of the rule against the straight edge, so that only one edge is used for setting purposes. The rule lies above the negatives 22, which have setting marks 19, 20, and rest on a glass plate 21 carried by the frame 1. The Provisional Specification describes also the use on the frame of straight edges having index marks for example at their middle, or a graduated scale, together with index marks on the opposite side of the frame for adjusting the zinc plates into position in which they are held by clips on slotted bars adjustably secured to the sides of the frame.
