Photo-mechanical printing-surfaces. - Relates to the production of a half-tone negative by a number of exposures through different stops, and consists in the provision, on the camera, of means for indicating the camera extension and of an aperture scale graduated so that any stop can be accurately set for the camera extension. In the construction shown, the camera extension is measured by a tape 40 passing over a pulley 41 and operating a pointer 16 which indicates the extension on a scale 17. The lever 9 of the iris diaphragm is set with reference to a graduated plate 10, Fig. 5, marked with scales of numbers corresponding to camera extensions for each fratio, so that when the lever is set on a selected scale, e.g. the f-16 scale, to the number indicated by the camera extension pointer 16, the diaphragm is at the correct aperture corresponding to the selected scale, i.e. f-16. A removable card 18 is marked with a table 43 giving sets of exposure times for the four stops used. A separate card is used for each screen and screen distance. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 4914/07.
