Abstract
This unit is for use by operatives of boring machine to reduce airborne and heavy particles of waste material. <IMAGE>
Description
ACCESSORY FOR CLEANER DRILLING AREA
Inv tion: an accessory to collect swarf generated from boring
into various materials
Drilling can be a dust and dirt generating business. This is particularly true of drilling into walls and ceilings.
It may be D.I.Y. for the householder or a professional installation in an office causing the most common power accessory to be used.
In most cases the dust is allowed to float into the atmosphere of the room, the heavier waste falls to the floor.
There is much inconvenience and some very hard work for those whose job it is to clean up afterwards.
The invention is a device which surrounds the drilled area reducing the dust thrown out by the drill bit. The heavier waste is also contained within the device.
Drilling on a wall the dust and dirt falls into the hollow handle.
Drilling on a ceiling the debris falls'into the back of the device.
Drilling on a floor the waste is simply contained for brushing up.
All waste after use of the invention is simply tipped from it into waste receptacle.
Attached drawing "A" shows a pictorial view of the device appearing as a dished inverted cup with an inclined handle attached.
The cross section drawing "B" shows the containment area for waste and "C" the hollow handle for waste generated in wall drilling (vertical surfaces).
The dished area "D" will hold some waste from ceiling drilling with some falling into the handle "C" due to the swirling effect of the drill.
The drill bit passes through the hole (small) "E" then through the second hole (large) "F" to make contact with the surface to be worked.
The surface at "F" is in full contact with the wall or ceiling for proper operation of the device.
Claims (14)
- (1) The unit is an accessory for boring devices to separate the "dirty" environment around the drill bit from the clean air.(2) The unit is an accessory for catching and holding swarf from a drilling operation.Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows DRILL-MATE 1 A handtool to surround a point at which material is being cut. The waste products are contained within the device for disposal later or removed by vacuum. The device is also an aid to drill depth control.
- 2 A handtool as in claim 1 where the shape of the surround is circular.
- 3 A handtool as in claim 1 where the shape of the surround is rectangular
- 4 A handtool as in claim 1 where the shape of the surround is essentially triangular.
- 5 A handtool as in claim 1 where the shape of the surround is multisided.
- 6 A handtool as in claim 1 plus either of claims 2 - 5 where an area of the tool is reinforced to protect from drill chuck impact.
- 7 A handtool as in claim 1 plus claim 3 where the device has a slot or slots to accomodate a sawblade.
- 8 A handtool as in claim 1 plus any of claims 2 - 7 that has a storage zone.
- 9 A handtool as in claim 1 plus claim 8 that has a handle.
- 10 A handtool as in claim 1 plus claim 8 that has a hollow handle for a dust storage zone.
- 11 A handtool as in claim 1 plus claim 10 where the device has a vacuum outlet attachment.
- 12 A handtool as in claim 1 plus claim 8 where the device has a vacuum outlet and handle combined.
- 13 A handtool as in claim 1 plus either of claims 2 - 12 where the drill impact area protection shields are replacable.
- 14 A handtool as described herein with a cros-sectional construction approximately as shown in the drawing.
