Abstract

227,331. Berkel & Parnall's Slicing Machine Manufacturing Co., Ltd., (U.S. Slicing Machine Co.). April 22, 1924. Cutting slices in succession. - A rotary disc-knife for a slicing- machine, of the kind consisting of a thin, normally flat, circular plate or blade which is constrained into a concave form, comprises a knife blade 8<d> secured to the end of a shaft 2d by a set-screw 11<d>, bolt 9<d> and washer 10<d>, a former or backing-plate 6<d> movable along the shaft to flex the blade 8d and means for locking the former in position. In Fig. 2, the former is screwed on the shaft 2<d> and is provided with a peripheral flange 7d, tommy holes 14<d> and a set screw for locking. The former may be loosely mounted on the shaft 2d and moved against the blade by a nut. For correcting slight irregularities in tho blade, a ring 17 is positioned within the flange 7 and bears on the blade, recesses 18 in the ring being engaged by adjusting-screws 19 threaded in the former and locked thereto by lock-nuts 20.
