Inlaid linoleum. - In making inlaid linoleum from sheets of plastic material by filling the apertures in one sheet with tesserae cut from another sheet, the rejected tesserae being ground for reuse, variegated material is used for one or more sheets, the basic colour of the sheet and the colour and quantity of the inlay are determined so that by adding to the ground-up rejected material an amount of lighter or darker material not greater than that utilized for the tesserae, the rejected material is made the same colour as the primary sheet. Each sheet 15, 25 has rolled into it while in the plastic state lumps of composition 7, 8 of a different shade, which are conveniently supplied by conveyers 50, 60. The reject tesserae when ground up with suitable proportions of the material 7, 8, are available for reuse.
