Abstract
226,990. Logan, W. A., and W. A. L. Coal Cutter, Ltd. Jan. 28, 1924. Coal-cutting machines.-The fluid-pressure generator connectible to a percussive drill for cutting the stable or disc holes is incorporated in the cutting machine and is operable by the main motor thereof, the transmission train between the generator and motor having associated with it means for disconnecting the motor from the cutter and from the haulage-feed gear. The generator is housed in the main gear box and disconnectibly driven by gearing. The generator 1 is mounted in the gear case 3 and connected by pipes 2 to a percussive drill. It is driven from the shaft 15 of the main motor through gearing 14, 13, 11, 10, 8, 6, 5, a clutch 4a, 4<b> and crank shaft 4. The cutter element is driven from the gear wheel 8 through a clutch 8<a>, 8<b>, shaft 9 and gears 16, 17, 19. The haulage drum 27 is driven from the gear wheel 6 through crank 20 and connecting-rod 21, ratchet-wheel and pawl 23, 22, gearing 25, 26 and drum clutch 28. To drive the generator with the cutter and feed at rest, the clutch 8b is slid along the shaft 9, on which the integral gears 8, 10 rotate, so disconnecting the cutter; and for disconnecting the feed the pawl 22 is lifted or the ratchet-and-pawl otherwise made inoperative and the clutch 4a is put in.
