Yarns, warping and beaming. - In beaming warps containing threads which vary in character, such as worsted or other elastic threads a and silk or cotton threads b of less elasticity in order that the threads b may be delivered more quickly than the threads a, such threads b are wound in a sinuous or zigzag path on to the beam whilst the threads a are wound straight. In warping on to the swift, the threads a pass direct through a reed 2 and round guiding rollers 3, 4, 5 to the rotating swift 6 whereby they are wound thereon in a straight manner, whilst the threads b pass through a traversing comb or grid 7 so as to be wound up in a sinuous manner. The comb &c. 7 is traversed by means of a bar 8, which is caused to slide in bearings 9, 9<a> by lever mechanism 9<b>, 11, 12 from a crank pin 13. This pin can be inserted in any one of several holes in a disc 14 on the roller 4, whereby the amount of traverse may be varied. The warps are transferred from the swift to the warp beam in the ordinary manner.
