Abstract

226,341. Cass, V. Nov. 12, 1923. Picking-motions; checking picking-sticks.-In underpick motions of the type wherein the picker A slides in a groove in the bottom of the shuttle-box and is operated by a bell-crank lever E pivoted on the lay sword C<1>, the lever E is provided with a runner e<2> on which rests a curved spring-controlled lever F pivoted to a bracket on the cross-stay G. A cam K pivoted in a slot in the lever F is operated by a runner &c. h on a crank arm H whereby the lever F is depressed to operate the lever E. The cam K is controlled by a spring k' and coacts with an adjusting- screw k<2>, which permits it to move free of the driving-arm H if this should be rotated in a reverse direction. An inclined or wedge-shaped slidable piece F<1> at the end of the lever F can be moved longitudinally to adjust the throw of the lever. The lever E is controlled by a spring M and a spring buffer m may be provided on the loom gable to check the lever E and picker at the end of their forward strokes.
