Abstract

In a curved facing panel of the type comprising two sheets (1a, 1b) between which an insulating filling material (1c) is located, one of the sheets (1b) has longitudinal surface folding (11) which occupies all or most of its surface, and the longitudinal panel edges are rebated. One rebate (11b) is formed with a slot (12b) for fixing purposes. <IMAGE>

Description

CURVED FACING PANEL This invention relates to a curved facing panel.
The panels are of the type comprising two generally metal sheets between which filling materials having thermal and acoustic insulating properties are located.
The concept of constructing panels of this type is disclosed in Spanish patent 313,883, a pioneer in the field, which describes panels of the type mentioned above.
To begin with all panels of this type were generally flat.
Subsequently construction requirements made it necessary to provide panels of this type with a general configuration which was not flat.
Utility Model 289,157, by the same applicant, relates to a curved prefabricated panel and is characterised in that in a flat panel of the type consisting of two longitudinal sheets of initially equal size enclosing a filling material, at least one and preferably a plurality of curved, inclined, rising shapes or shapes of any other configuration which reduce its overall length (L2), measured along a line tangential to the furthermost projecting portions of its external perimeter with respect to the overall length (Ll) of the other sheet measured under identical conditions, are provided in one of the sheets by impact or progressive deformation in such a way that in the construction of the panel the outermost parts thereof are turned through an angle "a" which is a function of the difference in lengths d = L1 - L2.
The curved facing panel according to this invention has features specific to panels designed in accordance with the form of construction mentioned and is characterised in that: a) one of the sheets has longitudinal surface folding which occupies all or most of its surface area, b) both sheets have surface discontinuities terminating at opposite ends which give rise at the ends of the panel to two terminal asymmetrical surface members located in different planes, c) one of the said asymmetrical members at the end of the panel incorporates a re-entrant which makes a butt joint with the terminal portion of the next adjacent panel, d) one of the said terminal surface discontinuities forms a central re-entrant in order to secure the means of attachment between the panels.
Thus the curved facing panel comprises a new invention which implies an inventive step and is capable of industrial application.
In order to gain a better understanding of the object of this invention, a preferred embodiment thereof, to which additional changes may be made without adversely affecting its fundamental nature, is illustrated in-the drawings.
Figure 1 shows a general perspective view of a curved facing panel according to the invention which turns through an angle "a = 90"" obtained by means of a central curvature between two straight end members (tl) (t2) and folding (11) in the central region of the sheet (Ib).
Figure 2 shows a general cross-section in elevation of the curved facing panel according to the invention corresponding to the preceding figure.
A non-restrictive embodiment of this invention is described below.
Other embodiments which introduce subsidiary changes which do not detract from its fundamental nature are not ruled out, and on the contrary this invention also includes all variants therein.
The panels (1) to which the invention relates consist of two sheets (la), (lob), generally of metal, between which is inserted a filling material (inc) with thermal and acoustic insulating properties.
In accordance with the invention, one of the sheets (lob) incorporates convex-concave ribs, V-shaped ridges or similar shapes (11), which are obtained in particular by bending.
These shapes (11) are distributed over all or most of the surface of sheet (lob).
In accordance with Figures 1 and 2 these shapes (11) are distributed in the central portion of the surface of sheet (lob), occupying most of its surface and leaving two short straight end members (t1), (t2).
Sheet (la) on the outside of panel (l) has at one end thereof an extensive inclined surface discontinuity (gila) continuing in a straight portion (12a) with an angled end. This portion (12a) forms a narrower portion of panel (P1) together with the end portion of sheet (Ib) into the end of which is inserted a sealing bead (2).
Sheet (lob) on the inside of panel (1) has a surface discontinuity (lib) with an extensive re-entrant (12b) at its opposite end, which continues into a straight portion (13b).
Together with the end portion of sheet (la) this portion (13b) forms a narrower asymmetrical portion of panel (P2) in comparison with portion (P1) on the other side, which lies in a different plane, see Figures 1 and 2, in which each portion (P1), (P2) of panel (1) is adjacent to one or other of sheets (la), (lib).
The means of attachment are fitted into the re-entrant (12b) and being fixed to portion (P1) form the attachment between adjacent panels, one of these being the object of this Model, while the other may be either a straight panel or a curved panel of a mating shape.
Materials, dimensions, proportions and in general other subsidiary or secondary details which do not alter, change or modify the essence of the invention may be varied.
The terms in which this description has been drawn up are a true and accurate reflection of the object described, and are to be taken in their widest sense and not in any way restrictively.

Claims (4)

1. A curved facing panel of the type comprising two sheets between which a filling material is located, characterised in that one of the sheets has longitudinal surface folding which occupies all or most of its surface, and in that both sheets have surface discontinuities at opposite ends which originate at the ends of the panel in two terminal asymmetrical surface members located in different planes.
2. A curved facing panel according to the foregoing claims, characterised in that one of the said asymmetrical members at the end of the panel incorporates a re-entrant which makes a sealed butt joint with the terminal portion of the next adjacent panel.
3. A curved facing panel according to the foregoing claims, characterised in that one of the said terminal surface discontinuities forms a central re-entrant to engage the means of attachment between the panels.
4. A curved facing panel substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
