Abstract

226,247. Chenhalls, L. N. June 22, 1923. Signs.-An illuminated number plate for vehicles comprises a metal casing a supported by brackets b and having the letters or figures stencilled on its wall or walls or upon removable plates, behind which is a sheet or sheets of transparent material. As shown in Figs. 3 and 4, both faces of the casing are provided with flanges c to hold the removable plates. An electric lamp d and an acetylene burner e are carried by the ends of the casing, which are hinged at f and held by catches h. In a modification, a squarefronted casing has flanges for two stencil plates and has a danger light extension at one side. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 192,440, 193,503, 195,250. 195,792 and 198,753.
