Abstract

Pencils.-In recording-instruments the, marking of the record surface is effected by a roller whose axis is inclined to its direction of motion. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the roller 6 is mounted in a frame 5 which is riveted to a bar 4 that is connected to a slide member mounted in a slotted tube 3 and reciprocated therein by means connected with the movable member of the instrument. In a modification, the frame 5 may be secured to the bar 4 by means of a screw so as to enable the inclination of the axis of the roller to be adjusted. The roller may be formed of graphite or be made of metal to mark on a prepared paper surface.
