Description

COMBINATION WEARING APPAREL DESCRIPTION This invention relates to combination wearing apparel and is related especially, but not exclusively, to such apparel for children, such as, infants and toddlers.
It is well known that children tend to get their clothing dirty in a comparatively short time, in which case, it is sometimes necessary to replace dirty items of clothing at fairly frequent intervals. This is an undesirable exercise, particularly when the children are away from home on, say, visits, when it is necessary to carry additional, clean items of clothing for replacing any dirtied clothing items.
It is an object of the present invention to overcome, or at least substantially reduce, this major disadvantage associated with children's clothing.
Accordingly, the invention provides combination wearing apparel suitable for use with children, comprising an item of clothing arranged to be worn on the upper half of a wearer (hereinafter refered to as "an upper item of clothing") and at least two items of clothing arranged to be worn on the lower half of a wearer (hereinafter referred to as "lower items of clothing") wherein at least one of the lower items of clothing is detachably secured to the upper item of clothing, preferably in the region of the juncture of the upper and lower items of clothing, such as, in the waist region of a wearer.
The upper item of clothing may be in the form of a blouse, shirt, jumper, cardigan the upper part of an all-in-one romper suit or the like, whilst the lower items of clothing may comprise pants, long or short trousers, a skirt, tights, leggings, the lower half of an all-in-one romper suit or any combination thereof.
The upper item of clothing and one of the lower items of clothing may be formed integrally with each other in the form of, say, an all-in-one romper suit.
The at least one, and preferably two, lower item of clothing is detachably secured to the upper item of clothing by any suitable means. For instance, in the preferred embodiment of combination wearing apparel in accordance with the invention, said means comprises a generally horizontal row of buttons spaced around the upper item of clothing, preferably in the waist region thereof, whilst at least one of the lower items of clothing is provided with a complementary row of button holes for receipt upon the upper clothing items buttons. Alternatives for this preferred button/button hole arrangement for detachably securing the upper and lower items of clothing together, may include micro hook and eye arrangements, such as, the fabric sold under the Registered Trade Mark VELCRO, so-called poppers , press studs and zip fasteners.
Preferred embodiments of combination wearing apparel in accordance with the invention will now be described by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 is a first embodiment of combination wearing apparel for a child, including a blouse, pants and skirt; Figure 2 is a second embodiment of combination wearing apparel for a child, including an all-in-one romper and a skirt; and Figure 3 is a third embodiment of combination wearing apparel for a child, including a blouse, leggings/tights and a skirt.
Referring to Figure 1 of the accompanying drawing, combination wearing apparel for a toddler comprises an upper item of clothing in the form of a blouse indicated generally at 11 and two lower items of clothing, namely, a pair of pants indicated generally at 12 and a skirt indicated generally at 13.
A horizontal row of spaced buttons 14 is arranged around the body portion 15 of the blouse 11 and a corresponding row of button holes 16, 17 is arranged around the respective waistbands 18, 19 of the pair of pants 12 and skirt 13.
In use, the blouse 11, pants 12 and skirt 13 are fitted on a toddler, such that the button holes 16 in the waistband 18 of the pants 12 are received on respective buttons 14 on the body portion 15 of the blouse 11, whilst the button holes 17 in the waistband 19 of the skirt 13 are also received on respective buttons 14 of the blouse 11, thereby providing the combination outfit on the child, as indicated generally at 1.
The detachable securement of the pants 12 and the skirt 13 to the blouse 11 by means of the buttons 14 and corresponding button holes 16, 17, enables the pants 12 and/or skirt 13 to be removed from the blouse 11 at will. Thus, the blouse 11 can be worn with only the pants 12 or skirt 13 or as a combination of three items of clothing, as shown generally at 1.
A second embodiment of combination wearing apparel for a child is shown in Figure 2, wherein an all-in-one romper suit indicated generally at 20 comprises integral upper and lower items of clothing constituted by a blouse portion 21 and a pants portion 22. In the waist region of the suit 20 is provided a generally horizontal row of spaced buttons 24 arranged to receive corresponding button holes 27 in the waistband 29 of a lower item of clothing in the form of a skirt indicated generally at 23.
In use, the combination outfit indicated generally at two is formed by detachably securing the skirt 23 and romper suit 20 together by means of the corresponding buttons 24 and button holes 27. In this manner, the skirt 23 can be detached from the suit 20 as and when necessary.
A further, third embodiment of combination wearing apparel for a child is shown in Figure 3, wherein a blouse indicated generally at 31 and constituting an upper item of clothing, has a generally horizontal row of spaced buttons 34 around the body portion 35 in the waist region thereof. A pair of leggings indicated generally at 32, has a corresponding row of button holes 36 in the waistband 38 thereof and a second, lower item of clothing in the form of a skirt indicated generally at 33, also has a corresponding row of button holes 37 in its waistband 39.
In use, detachable securement of the leggings 32 and skirt 33 to the blouse 31 is identical to that of the detachable securement of the pants 12 and skirt 13 to the blouse 11 of the first embodiment described above in relation to Figure 1. Thus, the leggings 32 and/or skirt 33 can be detached from the blouse 31 as and when desired.
It is to be appreciated that, as indicated above, other suitable means may be provided for detachably securing at least one of the lower items of clothing in the form of the pants 12 and skirt 13 of the first embodiment, the skirt 23 of the second embodiment and leggings 32 and skirt 33 of the third embodiment, to the corresponding upper item of clothing in the form of the blouse 11 or 31 of the first and third embodiments and the upper, blouse portion of the all-in-one romper suit 20 of the second embodiment.
