Abstract

A wiper blade is proposed which is used for the oscillating wiping of motor vehicle window panes. The wiper blade comprises a frame and a wiper element which is held thereby, consists of a rubber-like material and has a rear strip 18, connected to the frame 12, to which there is connected, via a strip-like tilting web 28, an elongated wiper lip 30 which rests with its free end 34 on the window pane, the wiper lip tilting in its oscillation reversal positions into a trailing position, in which the wiper lip is supported in each case by a longitudinal shoulder 36, 37 bearing against the rear strip. Low-noise tilting of the wiper lip from its one trailing position into the other trailing position is achieved by damping means 44, 45, arranged between the respective longitudinal shoulder of the wiper lip and the rear strip. <IMAGE>

Description

Wiper blade for the oscillating wiping of motor vehicle window wanes Prior art The invention is based on a wiper blade of the generic type of the main claim. Such a wiper blade is already known (WO 89/03779), in which the longitudinal shoulder comes to rest directly on the rear strip. However, in the oscillation reversal positions of the wiper blade, this leads to a disturbing noise when the wiper lip tilts from its one trailing position into its other trailing position.
Advantages of the invention The wiper blade according to the invention, having the characterising features of the main claim, in contrast has the advantage that the tilting movement does not take place suddenly so that the undesired noise is at least heavily damped.
Advantageous developments and improvements of the wiper blade specified in the main claim are possible as a result of the measures described in the subclaims.
Drawing An exemplary embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing and is explained in more detail in the following description. Figure 1 shows a wiper blade according to the invention in plan view, Figure 2 shows a section through the wiper blade along the line Il-Il in Figure 1, in an enlarged presentation, Figure 3 shows a partial representation of the section according to Figure 2, the wiper blade resting on the window pane to be wiped in its operating position and being moved in its one oscillating direction, and Figure 4 shows the partial representation according to Figure 3, the wiper blade being moved in its other oscillating direction.
Description of the exemplary embodiment A wiper blade 10, shown in Figure 1, has a supporting clip frame 12 which holds a wiper strip 16 with claws 14.
The wiper strip 16 is elongated (Figure 1). During operation of a wiper device associated with the window pane to be wiped, it is displaced in an oscillatory manner over the window pane, at right angles to its longitudinal extent. The construction of the wiper strip is as follows: According to Figure 2, the wiper strip 16 has a rear strip 18 which is provided with longitudinal grooves 20, located opposite one another, in which in each case one spring rail 22 is accommodated. The spring rails 22 are intended to distribute a contact force directed onto the wiper blade correctly over the complete length of the wiper strip 16. The claws 14 of the supporting frame 12 dip into mutually opposite longitudinal grooves 24 in the rear strip 18.These longitudinal grooves 24 are bounded by protection or covering strips 26 which are intended to prevent the claws 14 damaging the surface of the window pane to be wiped during operation of the wiper device.
In this context, it should be mentioned that the wiper strip 16 is produced from a rubber-like material.
Integrally formed on the rear strip 18 of the wiper strip 16 is a ribbon-like strip 28 which forms a so-called tilting web. This tilting web 28 is connected on its side facing away from the rear strip 18 to a wiper wedge 30 which is also known as the wiper lip. Wiper blades belonging to the prior art are predominantly of the construction described above. During operation of the wiper device, the wiper blade 10 is stressed in the direction of the arrow 32 towards the window pane to be wiped, the free end 34 of the wiper lip 30 coming to rest on the window pane. The wiper lip 30, seen in cross-section, has a shape which approximates to that of an equilateral triangle. In this case, the tilting web 28 is connected to the base side of this triangle. This thus results in corner regions 36, 37 of the wiper lip 30 which face the rear strip 18.These corner regions 36, 37 form longitudinal shoulders by means of which the wiper lip 30 is supported on the rear strip 18 alternately during operation of the wiper device. This situation is intended to be explained in the following text using Figures 3 and 4.
Figure 3 shows one operating position of the wiper strip 16, in which the wiper blade is moved over a window pane 42 to be wiped at right angles to its longitudinal extent, in the direction of an arrow 40. In this case, it can clearly be seen from Figure 3 that the wiper lip 30 tilts into a trailing position, which is facilitated by the tilting web 28. However, during this tilting movement, the longitudinal shoulder 36 of the wiper lip 30 initially comes to rest on a damping strip 44 which merges with its one longitudinal edge integrally into the rear strip 18. In the unloaded state, the other, free longitudinal edge of the damping strip 44 is at a distance from the rear strip 18, as is shown in particular in Figure 2.However, in operation of the wiper device, the longitudinal shoulder 36 lays the damping strip 44 against the rear strip 18, because the damping strip 44 is dimensioned such that, although it delays the tilting movement of the wiper lip 30, it does not however prevent it. When the wiper blade has reached its one oscillation reversal position and is displaced in the direction of the arrow 54 (Figure 4), the wiper lip 30 tilts into its other trailing position, in which the other longitudinal shoulder 37 of the wiper lip 30 likewise comes to rest on a damping strip 45 and deforms the latter until it comes to rest on the rear strip 18.
It is clear that in this operating position the damping strip 44 springs back into its original position.
The movement sequences just described of both the wiper strip 30 and the damping strips 44 and 45 are repeated at each oscillation reversal position of the wiper blade.
The damping strips 44 and 45 respectively delay the contact of the longitudinal shoulders 36 and 37 on the region of the rear strip 18 facing them. The damping strips 44 and 45 are thus not intended to prevent the longitudinal shoulders 36 and 37 being supported on the rear strip 18, but merely delay this, which is achieved by the elastic damping strips deforming elastically under the contact force of the longitudinal shoulders 36 and 37 respectively. It is clear that the width of the damping strips 44 and 45 must be dimensioned such that, after tilting of the wiper strip 30, the longitudinal shoulders 36 and 37 respectively also come to rest on the damping strips 44 and 45 respectively. As is shown in particular in Figure 2, the width extent of the damping strips 44 and 45 respectively is aligned such that, originating from their connecting point 58 to the rear strip 18, they enclose an acute angle ~ therewith. In this way, the damping resistance increases with increasing deformation of the damping strips 44, 45 so that the magnitude of the supporting force can be influenced by corresponding matching of the size of the angles.
