Lace.-Square or fillet net L is made on a curtain machine provided with one set of spool threads A controlled by a single guide bar B at the same time as ordinary clothing effects and ties M, either description of work being made at any part of the curtain at will. The bar B moves one gait to the left when the carriages E are in the back comb bar F, then rests for a moment and moves two more gaits to the left. It moves similarly to the right when the carriages are in the front comb bar G. Ties or clothing effects are thus made, but if interceptors H are moved into the spool and warp threads A, C when the carriages are in the comb bar F, these effects are suppressed. At places where the square or fillet net L is to be made the interceptors H may enter the threads on the second and fourth motions, when the carriages E are in the comb bar G and also on the seventh and ninth motions when they are in the comb bar F and may be held out of action on the other motions. Each spool thread A intercepted in this way moves three gaits to the left on the first motion, pillars with the same bobbin thread on the second to the fifth motion, moves three gaits to the right on the sixth motion and pillars for the following four motions. For a net that repeats in more or less than ten motions the movement of the interceptor is corres. pondingly varied.
