Abstract

224,326. Cole, H. Aug. 27, 1923. Spring devices; driving-chains, adjusting.-In a bicycle, more particularly for juveniles, of the type having a frame of the form shown, the lug 9 carrying the seat tube 11 is formed with a pair of horizontal flanges 14, to which are secured a pair of laminated springs 15 shaped at the rear ends to carry the spindle of the rear wheel. Bolts 20 are passed through holes in the flanges 14, in the springs 15, and in a lower clamping- plate. The tension of the chain is adjusted by adjusting the effective length of the springs 15, or by adjusting the position on the horizontal frame tube 1 of a lug 24 carrying the pedal cranks.
