Abstract

A junction box assembly, which includes a junction box having a plurality of round holes thereon each said round holes comprising two opposite notches; and at least one connector for insertion in either one of the round holes to secure a conduit each to the junction box for electric wiring. The connector comprises two opposite projections corresponding to the two opposite notches of the round holes of the junction box and a rubber ring mounted thereon and set between the projections and a collar thereof such that the connector can be conveniently fastened in either of the round holes of the junction box. Two bolt holes are made on the connector for the insertion therein of two screws to conveniently secure a conduit therein. <IMAGE>

Description

THREADLESS QUICK CONNECTOR FOR JUNCTION BOX The present invention is related to a kind of connector for junction box and more particularly to the one which can be quickly fastening in a junction box to secure a conduit thereto for electric wiring.
Electric wiring is an important subject in the construction of a building. The arrangement of the electric wiring of a building may affect the interior sense of beauty of such a building. Conventionally, wiring channels are prepared before pouring of concrete during the construction of a building. According to conventional method for electric wiring, water may permeate into the wiring channels easily, to cause the problem of electric contact failure.
In order to eliminate the problem, junction boxes are commonly used for electric wiring in building construction.
One disadvantage of the conventional junction boxes is the high cost. Another disadvantage of the conventional junction boxes is that the connection of conduits thereto is made through screw joint which is easy to damage, and the thread of which can not protect against water and tends to gather rust to affect its operation.
One object of the present invention is to provide a threadless quick connector for junction box which is inexpensive to manufacture.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a threadless quick connector for junction box which is easy to fasten in a junction box for securing a conduit.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a threadless quick connector for junction box which can seal the hole of the junction box into which it is inserted.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a threadless quick connector for junction box which is practical in use for connecting a variety of conduits to a junction box for electric wiring.
An enbodiment of the present invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompany drawings in which: Fig. 1 is a perspective fragmentary view of a junction box assembly in accordance with the present invention; Fig. 2 is a perspective assembly view of a junction box assembly in accordance with the present invention; Fig. 3 is a sectional view of the junction box assembly of Fig. 2; and Fig. 4 is a schematic drawing, illustrating the mounting of a threadless quick connector of the present invention on a junction box.
Referring to the various drawings attached herewith, a detailed description of structural features of a threadless quick connector for junction box of the present invention is as follows: Referring to Fig. 1, a junction box (1) in accordance with the present invention comprises a plurality of round holes (10) for the fastening therein of a connector (2) each to respectively secure a conduit (4) thereto for wiring. The round holes (10) of the junction box (1) comprise each two opposite retaining notches (11). A connector (2) in accordance with the present invention has a tube-like structure, the size of which is arranged according to the round holes (10) of the junction box (1) and the conduit (4) which is to be inserted therein. The connector (2) comprises two opposite projections (21) vertically extending outward from the outer wall surface thereof at one end and corresponding to the two opposite notches (11) of each round hole (10) of the junction box (1), a collar (22) thereon, a circular surface portion (30) between the projections (21) and the collar (22) thereof, two bolt holes (23) on the circular body thereof. A conduit (4) for electric wiring is inserted in the connector (2) and firmly secured therein by two screws (24) which are screwed in the two bolt holes (23) of the connector (2). A rubber ring (3) is mounted on the circular surface portion (30) of the connector (2).When the connector (2) is inserted in either round hole (10) of the junction box (1) and turned to rotate for a certain range, the rubber ring (3) will be squeezed to retain the connector to the junction box (1) and simultaneously to tightly seal such a round hole (10).
Referring to Figs. 2 and 3, the installation of the present invention is outlined hereinafter. The conduit (4) is first inserted in the connector (2) from its rear end, and two screws (24) are inserted in the two bolt holes (23) of the connector (2) to firmly secure the conduit (4) thereto. After the rubber ring (3) is mounted on the circular surface portion (30) of the connector (2), the connector (2) is inserted in either round hole (10) of the junction box (1) with its two opposite projections (21) passing through the two opposite notches (11) of such a round hole (10). Because of the effect of the collar (22), the connector (2) is protected from entirely inserted in the junction box (10). Immediately after insertion in a round hole (10) of the junction box (1), the connector (2) is turned by force to rotate until it is locked. Thus, the rubber ring (3) can seal such a round hole (10) tightly.
When to remove the connector (2) from the junction box (1), it is to simply turn the connector (2) to rotate in reverse direction permitting the two opposite projections (21) of the connector (2) to alight with the two opposite notches (11) of such a round hole (10) such that the connector (2) can be directly taken out of the junction box (1).
