Abstract

A sectional door, the guide rails of which are situated on both sides of the door opening for guiding the rollers of the sections and comprise a vertical portion and a horizontal portion, which is situated above the door opening, said portions extending into each other through the intermediary of an arcuate portion, wherein the arcuate portion is constructed symmetrically in relation to a plane, which is determined by the angle bisector of the sector angle associated with the arc and extends vertically relative to a plane which is fixed by the vertical and horizontal portions (4, 5) of the guide rails of one side of the door. <IMAGE>

Description

11 k A SECTIONAL DOOR The invention Is based on a sectional door, the
guide rails of which are situated on both sides of the door opening and are formed from a vertical portion and a horizontal portion, which is situated above the door opening, said portions extending into each other through the intermediary of an arcuate portion.
The active parts of the guide rails have a substantially C-shaped crosssection, In order to be able to accommodate the rollers mounted on the sections. The open ends of these rails must, of course, face the sections. For these reasons, the guide rails and the arcuate portions joining them have to be provided in duplicate, namely once for the lefthand side of the door opening and again for the righthand side of the door opening.
The basic object of the invention is to provide the initially mentioned sectional doors so that their arcuate portions may be used both for the lefthand side and for the right-hand side of the door.
To achieve this object, the arcuate portion is constructed symmetrically in relation to a plane, which is fixed by the bisector of the sector angle associated with the arc, and is disposed vertically relative to a plane. which is determined by the vertical and horizontal portions of a guide path. In such case,, the securing means for the arcuate portions. by means of which they are connected to the other parts of the door structure, are preferably disposed in said plane of symmetry.
With such an arcuate portion, an assembly may readily be effected on one or other side of the door. Storekeeping is also simplified by the embodiment of the invention. since only one type of the arcuate portions mentioned is ever needed.
The present invention will be further illustrated, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a side elevational view of an arcuate portion for a sectional door, as viewed from the sections, and the adjacent parts of the door are illustrated by dotted lines; and Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view taken along the line II - II of Fig. 1.
The arcuate portion, which is in the form of a uniform casting, includes an arc of 900. The arcuate portion is connected, on the one hand, to the vertical portion 4 and, on the other hand, to the horizontal portion 5 of the guide rails, which are situated on both sides of the door opening, for guiding the rollers of the individual sections of the door through the intermediary of two tangentially guided or extending connecting ends 1 and 2 and through the intermediary of a bore 3 situated there. In such case, the bores 3 serve to receive bolts.
A vertical support member. 6 is situated on both sides of the door opening to accommodate the weight-balancing means and addAtional components of the door. In such case, the vertical portion 4 is securely connected to the support member 6, which is upwardly sealed by a head- piece 7, which carries the motor shaft Q :p k 8 and, in addition, a lug 9 for the screw-connection of a lug 10 of the arcuate portion.
As is apparent in Fig. 2. the guide rail rail 11 - has a substantially Cshaped cross-section, and its opening 12 faces the sections, that is to say the centre of the door.
Fig. 1 also shows that the arcuate portion is reinforced towards the headpiece 7 by means of an attachment 13, with which the lug 10 also engages.
An angle bisector (of the sector angle) ascends at 450 and is associated with the 900 arc of the arcuate portion, said angle sector determining the position of the securing hole 14 in the lug 10.
The arcuate portion is a symmetrical body; its symmetry is determined by the angle bisector referenced 15, or respectively by a plane, which is fixed thereby and extends vertically relative to the plane which is determined by the two portions 4 and 5.
The symmetry relates to the actual arc. the attachment 13, the lug 10, the connecting ends 1 and 2 and the bores 3 situated there. Accordingly, it is also possible to use the body shown in the drawing for the opposite side of the sectional door as a result of rotation, whereby the opening 12 then in turn faces the sections. In such case, the edge reinforcement 161 of the attachment 13 would then extend parallel to the support member 6, that is to say vertically. The edge 16 of Fig. 1 is situated in a vertical position substantially on the edge of the support member 6.
