Abstract

An insert 11 made out of a single blank of cardboard is inserted into a lower part 12 of a folding box 10 to divide it into compartments 13 defined by, on the one hand, webs 15 which project upwardly over the bottom 14 of the insert 11 and, on the other hand, cross-webs 16, which are partially out of the regions 17 of the bottom 14 bordering on the webs and are folded upwardly. <IMAGE>

Description

Folding box provided with a sorting insert The present invention relates to a folding box manufactured from cardboard having a sorting insert which is place into the lower part of the box and subdivides this into several filling compartments which prevents a lateral displacement of a plurality of products to be packaged, the sorting insert being manufactured out of a single blank of cardboard and on the one hand, webs folded upwardly with respect to the bottom of the sorting insert for defining the individual filling compartments.
A folding box of this kind is known from FR-PS 12 26 636.
The sorting insert shown therein is only suitable for defining filling compartments between the webs folded upwardly with respect to the bottom, whereas a subdivision into smaller filling chambers is not possible along these webs. Folding boxes having sorting inserts out of plastic material are also known, the filling compartments of the respective sorting inserts being formed as hollows corresponding to the shape of the product.
Folding boxes having sorting inserts made from cardboard are also known, the sorting inserts being formed of intersecting webs, i.e. the sorting inserts are formed of several parts in these folding boxes.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a folding box of the kind initially mentioned above which, while retaining the advantage of a simply manufacturable, cheap and environmentally compatible sorting insert, additionally offers the possibility of defining filling compartments between webs respectively extending parallel to one another.
The solution of this object in accordance with the invention comprises in that the sorting insert on the other hand has cross-webs for defining the filling, said cross-webs being stamped out of the webs as well as a region of the bottom of the sorting insert bordering on the webs and which also extend upwardly over the bottom.
Such a folding box can be cheaply manufactured on the whole and this is particularly so for the sorting insert, which consists of a single blank made of cardboard. On account of the fact that such a folding box is at long last entirely made of cardboard, it is also particularly environmentally compatible, and the particular advantage is achieved that the filling compartments are also partitioned with respect to one another in the regions between the webs extending parallel to one another.
As is the case for the folding box blank, the sorting insert is manufactured from a single blank, it can also be transported in a flat condition and therefore in a particularly space-saving manner from the cardboard box plant to the packing plant.
The folding up of the sorting insert can also be effected with common commercial machines similarly used for folding the folding box blank.
Advantageous developments of the invention are defined in the subject matter of the dependent claims.
Exemplified embodiments of the invention described in detail in the following are shown in the enclosed drawings, in which: Fig. 1 shows a perspective representation of an inventive folding box in the opened condition, Fig. 2 shows a flat, single blank of a sorting insert, Fig. 3 shows a perspective representation of a sorting insert according to Fig. 2 in the erect position, Fig. 4 shows a partial section along the line IV/IV in Fig. 3, and Fig. 5 shows a partial section comparable to Fig. 4 through a sorting insert according to a further exemplified embodiment of the invention.
The folding box shown in Fig. 1 generally given the reference numeral 10 has a sorting insert 11 which is inserted in the lower part 12 of the folding box 10 and is made of a single blank of cardboard similarly as for the folding box.
The lower part 12 of the box is subdivided by the sorting insert 11 into a plurality of filling compartments 13, within which the product to be packed, for example chocolates, are secured against a lateral displacement thereof.
On the one hand, webs 15 folded upwardly with respect to the bottom 14 of the sorting insert 11 and, on the other hand, cross-webs 16, which are stamped out of the webs 15 as well as out of the region 17 of the bottom 14 of the sorting insert 11 bordering on the webs 15 and also project upwardly over the bottom 14, serve to define the individual filling compartments 13.
Fig. 3 in particular distinctively shows that the size of a part of the bottom defining a filling compartment 13 with respect to an adjacent filling compartment 13 is partitioned by the webs 15 as well as the cross-webs 16.
Appropriate products are secured against a lateral movement and an undesirable entry thereof into an adjacent filling compartment by means of the webs 15 as well as the cross-webs 16.
In the exemplified embodiments shown in accordance with Figs. 1 to 4, the webs 15 have a triangular cross-section, as do the cross-webs 16, which project laterally as well as at a height above the webs 15.
It is shown in Fig. 5 that the cross-webs 16 can equally also have a different profile to that of the webs 15, as for example a quadrilateral cross-section. Naturally, the possibility also exists that the webs 15 are shaped having a different cross-sectional shape than that shown in the exemplified embodiments. The webs 15 lying at the sides of the edge regions of the sorting inserts 11 are provided with an adhesion surface 18 and the entire, erect sorting insert 11 is stuck together with the corresponding side walls 19 of the lower part 12 of the box by means of these adhesion surfaces 18. In this way, the sorting insert 11 is prevented from falling out of the lower part 12 of the box.
Fig. 2 in particular shows that the cross-webs 16 are tapered towards the top end thereof. However, this concerns a purely structural measure which for technical reasons is not absolutely necessary. The cross-webs 16 can also have a constant width. For design reasons, other geometrical forms of the cross-webs 16 can also be selected and, for example, the cross-webs 16 can be rounded off.
