Ball-jointed hinges, such as used in steering connections of motor road vehicles, are provided with a tubular dustexcluding and grease retaining jacket b of rubber or the tubular socket member c of the joint and other elastio material completely surrounding with a closely fitting lateral opening b<1> through which the shank of the ball-ended member a<1> protrudes. The slot d<1> for the passage of the member a<1> is extended to the end of the socket member c, to enable the joint to be assembled after the member a<1> has been pushed through the lateral opening in the tubular jacket b from the inside so that the margin of the opening b<1> forms a projecting and closely fitting elastic flange or collar. The cap nut f preferably fits inside the end of the tubular jacket b as shown.
