Abstract

The units retain water in whatever position they lay and lock onto adjacent units by means of tentacles. The unit is composed of six chambers interlocking into a double cross, outward ends open, inward ends pyramid shape. Twelve webs divide the double cross equally forming further water traps. Tentacles are affixed centrally on the outer edges of the webs. Water is retained by collecting in the chambers, webs and tentacles. The units can form stratas below the soil several inches thick or used mixed with soil several feet down for deeper rooted plants, tentacles secure them to each other and will prevent slippage on steep slopes.

Description

PROJECT A.A. AQUA ATOM The Aqua Atom is of great importance to our planet, it is designed to overcome some of the earth's major problems, pollution, land restoration reclamation, food production, flooding, climatical changes, unemployment and the ecology.
The project is simple and far reaching as the heading implies, a major international Chemical Company would need to take the lead on a world basis.
The subject of this patent is designed to trap water in an artificial way at a desired level below the soil, at the same time slow down the evaporation rate. This is achieved by six square chambers forming an interlocking double cross with the open ends facing outwards, the closed ends meet in the centre, each pyramid shaped, ensuring no space is lost.
Twelve webs divide the double cross intersections equally, at the same time form further water traps and stengthen the unit. Each web has tentacles affixed at the centre outer edge. This ensures the A.A's form a position to adjacent A.A's when laid in a carpet forming method.
Whatever position the unit lays it will trap water and slow down evaporation.
The water is trapped by three distinct methods, by the square chambers, the webs and the design of the tentacles. Vapour is trapped in the chambers and webs as evaporation takes place in the strata.
The Aqua Atoms laid as a carpet below the soil act as an artificial waterplain encouraging growth of plant life. The design is such that placed even on steep slopes the efficiency is not impaired, and the tentacles prevent slippage.
The Aqua Atom can be used in all types of soil conditions, stony, sandy, poor or good soil, each condition would benefit by water retention, vapour loss slowed down, soil aerated, or nutrient retention.
The units can be used for shallow or deep rooted plant life by either varying the number of stratas or mixing A.A's with soil to the desired depth.
Working of the soil by plough etc would not effect the efficiency of the A.A's neither would movement of the soil by natural causes.
Placing Aqua Atoms as a carpet below the soil forming a strata several inches thick gives several advantages, maximum water and vapour retention, water will not stagnate, insects unable to breed and less soil intrusion into chambers.
Aqua Atoms would be moulded from plastics in vast quantities and bagged such as peat and fertilizers. The manufacturing process would use a percentage of plastic wastes powdered down, this would help with material supplies and solve another problem of plastic waste.

Claims (6)

  1. CLAIMS 1. I claim a water and water vapour retention unit "Aqua Atom" composed of six chambers, twelve webs and twelve tentacles which placed below the soil with many others in any position will form an artificial water-plain.
  2. 2. I claim as claimed in claim 1. a unit which can be mixed with soil for deep rooted plants to required depths or used in strata form several inches thick below the soil for shallow rooted plants.
  3. 3. I claim as claimed in claims 1. and 2. a unit which used in strata or mixed form will retain water, water vapour and nutrients in any soil conditions also aerate the areas where placed.
  4. 4. I claim as claimed in claims 1. 2. and 3. plastic Aqua Atoms which have the ability to regenerate land for cultivation in arid and desert regions even on steep slopes due to the interlocking tentacles.
  5. 5. I claim as claimed in claims 1. 2. 3. and 4. a water retention system which is unaffected by natural land movement or cultivation proccesses, water will not stagnate, insects cannot breed and nutrients are retained.
