Press-button fasteners.-A press button fastening is constructed with a locket member adapted to receive the stud member from either side, the stud engaging a split spring ring or equivalent part mounted in or formed integrally with the socket. The arrangement is such that release can only be affected by a straight outward pull when the stud is inserted at one side of the socket but can also be affected by an oblique pull when the socket is so arranged that the stud is engaged in the other side. Figs. 2 and 5 show a socket 1 in which a split spring ring 4 is loosely retained by lugs 4<1> thereon engaging slots in an upstanding central part 2 which is flanged over the ring. When the stud part 6 is inserted at the side shown in Fig. 5, release by tilting is prevented by a shoulder 11<1> on the stud member bearing on the rim 12 of the socket. In a modification, Fig. 7, a plain split ring 8 is retained between the upturned flange 2 of the socket part 1 and a flanged disc with radiating arms 9<1> which are bent and curved over with the run of the socket. In another modification, Fig. 10, the upstanding centre part of the socket is slit and the top bent inwards and curled over.
