Abstract
223,242. Schlaich, H. Oct. 10, 1924. Thermometers.-In a temperature indicator for an internal-combustion engine, the temperaturesensitive element is inserted in a conduit through which the cooling water circulates and is provided with clamping means adapted to engage both inside and outside the wall of the conduit. The said element is preferably located in the flexible connection between the upper part of the waterjacket and the top of the radiator. The temperature-sensitive element comprises a fluid-container 20 having a flared mouth 21 in which is secured by solder &c. the enlarged end of an externallythreaded stem 23 through which passes a tube 28 having beyond the stem, a protective covering 29 which can be clamped within a cap 26 screwed over the stem. A nut 25 and washer 27 are also mounted on the stem. When the element 20 has been inserted through the wall of the conduit 19, Fig. 4, the nut 25 is screwed down so as to engage the wall of the conduit between the washer 27 and the mouth 21 of the element 20. The tube 28 communicates with an indicator on the steering column &c. of the vehicle. Specification 145,474, [Class 7 (ii), Internal-combustion engines, Arrangement &c. of], is referred to.
