Abstract
223,152. Draper, J. April 9, 1924. Washing-machines with closed or enclosed rotary receptacles. - A washing-machine comprises an outer casing 12 having an outwardly opening door 13 at each end and rollers 18 carried by internal rotary annular members 15, Fig. 4, The rollers coact with channel members 36 forming part of a perforated clothes container 35 which is brought up to and taken away from the casing on a trolley 11, the container passing into the casing on the rollers. The annular members are rotated on anti-friction devices 17 by belts 39 from a pulley 40. The doors 13 are unlatched and are simultaneously opened by rotating an internally-toothed wheel 19 which drives a pinion 25 through the gear-wheels 23, 24. The pinion 25 meshes with a rack 26 which is connected by links 27 with the bell-cranks 32, the initial movement of which effects the unlocking of the doors by releasing bars 28 from plates 29, subsequent movement thereof opening the doors.
