Channels and reservoirs in bearings.-In a bearing bushing 9 for a highspeed shaft 6, such as the hook shaft of a rotaryhook sewing machine, an external longitudinal groove 14 forming an oil reservoir communicating with the bearing surface through a fine capillary longitudinal slit 17. At the ends of the bearing surface are formed annular oil-catching grooves 12, whence the oil is returned to the reservoir groove 14 by gravity through ducts 13. Lubricant is supplied to the reservoir groove 14 from a longitudinal groove 18 through circumferential grooves 19. The groove 14 may be filled with felt or other absorbent material. As shown, the bushing 9 is mounted in an outer member 8 in the frame 2, oil being supplied through a hole 11 in the frame and a hole 10 in the member 8 to the groove 18.
