Abstract

A method of erecting a building comprises the steps of first forming a temporary platform 18 onto which an elevated floor or roof can be formed, assembling one or more preformed elements 12 to support the roof or the floor, casting the floor or roof on the platform and removing the temporary platform. The preformed elements comprise manhandleable panels which are assembled to form the wall of the building. A jig 34 can be assembled on a surface and the temporary platform erected thereon. An anchor plate 36 for use in building construction is adapted to be embedded in the floor or roof of a building and to receive a horizontal or vertical member. The platform may be formed of plates 22 with resilient sealing strips therebetween. <IMAGE>

Description

ERECTION OF BUILDINGS BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION This invention relates to the erection of buildings and in particular to a method and apparatus for use in the erection of buildings.
PRIOR ART The prior art method of erecting building havings floors or roofs which are cast in situ generally comprises erecting walls or columns which form part of the building and forming a platform on to which the roof or a suspended floor is- cast.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION According to the invention a method of erecting a building comprises the steps of first forming a temporary platform onto which an elevated floor or roof can be formed, assembling one or more preformed elements to support the floor or the roof, casting the floor or roof on the platform and removing the temporary platform.
In the preferred method of the invention the preformed elements comprise manhandleable panels which are assembled to form the walls of the building.
The method preferably includes the step of assembling a jig on a surface and erecting the temporary platform thereon. The platform is formed by assembling a plurality of modular deck plates. Preferably the mating surfaces of the deck plates have a strip of a resilient material which seals the edges between assembled adjacent plates.
According further to the invention there is provided an anchor plate for use in building construction, the plate being adapted to be embedded in the floor or roof of a building and to receive a horizontal or vertical member.
The anchor plate is preferably tee shaped and adapted to be located horizontally in the floor or roof of the building. The leg of the tee preferably fixes a deck plate and the arm fixes a face plate. A plurality of tees are preferably used for anchorage.
According to another aspect of the invention a method of erecting a building comprises the steps of assembling a jig on a surface, locating a plurality of supports relative to the jig and assembling preformed elements to construct the building.
In a preferred form of the invention the jig is made up of a plurality of eleongate bars which are assembled to conform with the floor of the building. The jig preferably serves as a guide for the assembly of wall panels.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS In the drawings: Figure 1 is a side view of a building under construction using the method and apparatus according to the invention; Figure 2 is an end view of an anchor plate assembly of Figure 1; and Figure 3 is a section through the foundation of the building of Figure 1.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT Referring to the drawings a building 10 under construction has precast wall panels 12 and a raised platform 14.
The platform 14 is formed using screwjacks 16 and support frames 17 which support beares 18 and joists 20. Deck plates 22 are assembled on top of the joists 20 to complete the platform. Each deck plate 22 is surrounded at its mating edge by a strip of foam material 24 which serves to seal the edges between the adjacent plates.
The erection of the building is commenced by digging the foundation trenches in the conventional manner. A plinth plate 26 is used to line the outer side of the foundation. A removable recess former 28 is fixed to the top inner end of the plinth plate 26. The foundation in the form of a reinforced concrete raft 30 is cast simultaneously and after the material has set and the wall panels 12 have been set in position, the plinth plate 26 is removed.
A jig 32 is assembled on the raft. The jig has side angle pieces 34 which act as a guide for assembly of the walls panels 12. Base straps are set across the side pieces 34 for location of the support frames 17.
The temporary platform 14 is then assembled on top of the screwjacks 16. Thereafter the walls panels 12 are assembled to form the walls for the building 10. It will be noticed that the outer walls panel seats in the recess which is formed by the removal of the recess former 28.
The deck plate 22 adjacent the wall formed by the wall panels 12 is fixed by a tee shaped anchor plate 36.
Bolts 38 and tapered spaces 39 connect the anchor plate 36 to the deck plate 22. The other arm of the anchor plate 36 is fixed to a face plate 40 and a removable recess former 42 through a bracket 44. It will be appreciated that with the deck plates 22 and face plate 40 in place, a box shaped structure is formed for casting the roof or suspended floor of the building.
If it is required to construct another storey on the suspended floor further jigs can be assembled to guide the assembly of the wall panels. The jigs can also serve as guides for location of screw jacks which support roof beams or the like.
