Abstract

222,881. Paisseau, J., and Warcollier, R. Oct. 4, 1923, [Convention date]. Gems.-In the manufacture of imitation pearls, mother-of-pearl &c., extremely fine crystals are incorporated in an agglutinating substance such as gelatine, celluloid, cellulose acetate, viscose, condensed resins, &c. The crystals may be obtained by precipitating fatty acids from soaps by water, or uric acid from urate of soda by an acid. Crystals, such as those of heavy metal salts, having an index of refraction as different as possible from that of the agglutinating substance are preferred. Specification 207,144 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the addition of gas bubbles to a mass of agglutinant, either by chemical means, or by the introduction of crystals which are subsequently dissolved, leaving interstices of the shape of the crystals. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
