222,683. Krout, P. Oct. 12, 1923. Lamps, rotating supports for.-A sign comprises a rotatable frame a mounted by a spider b on a spindle e. In each spider leg is a shaft f carrying a lamp g outside the frame a and rotated by a bevel-wheel h gearing with a wheel j engaging a fixed spiral member k. On two of the legs b are mounted at right angles two lamps m, each rotated by bevel wheels n engaging a wheel o fixed to a shaft f. Two advertising screens of frosted glass are arranged at the sides of the frame a and illuminated by the lamps m, the lamps g being always exposed to view. The lamps g may be covered with translucent material. All the lamps are multi-coloured, and current is supplied to them by rings and brushes u, v. The frame a is rotated by worm gear with preferably a ratchet-wheel interposed. The colouring of the lamps may be effected by staining, or, in the case of the external lamps g, by painted enveloping globes. These globes, which may be of transparent or opal material surrounding a coloured lamp, may be rotated on their axes at a slower or faster rate than the lamps within, and by the same mechanism which actuates the lamps. The lamps g, m may be automatically switched on and off in turn or simultaneously, by the driving mechanism or by an adjustable external switch.
