Abstract
230,897. Evans, W. V. G. Dec. 14, 1923. Prisms, rotating; illumination, changing advertisements by controlling.-A mechanically operated sign comprises two series of revolubly mounted elements 4, 5 of triangular cross-section constructed of transparent or translucent material bearing components of the adv,ertisement. The series are arranged back to back within a casing 1 having view openings. 1<a>, 1<b> at back and front. Each element contains a lamp at each end carried upon a fixed stub shaft 9 through which the leads pass. Intermittent motion is imparted to the elements from an electric motor by pinion, worm, pin and slot, and pawl and ratchet gearing. The elements are aligned by rods' &c. 34 at one or both ends, the rods being pivoted to links 35 which are under the influence of springs 37. Springs 37 also draw the upper ends of the :rods 34 to press them against the faces of the elements 4, 5. The lamps may be extinguished during the rotation of the elements, and are then illuminated in succession by a rotating switch. Means may be provided by suspending the sign.
