Abstract

222,627. Hollingworth, E., (Crompton & knowles Loom Works). Aug. 20, 1923. Pile-fabric looms; creel-frame arrangements.- The tube frame 44 is supported, during the insertion of pile yarn, by a carrier 40 mounted on and extending across the loom from one tube end holder 18 to the other. The carrier is formed of two heavy metal plates 41, 42, a part 46 of the plate 41 extending through a loop formed by a plate &c. 45 near the middle of the tube frame 44. The part 46 fits in an opening. 47, and the plate 41 has a flange 43 extending under the tube frame. The rear plate may be cut off near its ends, the longer plate 41 being attached to the inwardly-projecting portions 50 of the holders. As successive tube frames are presented by the transporting chains to the usual arms 15 and holders 18, levers 33 are caused to actuate slides 32 to release the hooks 31 from the chains so that a tube frame may be freed therefrom and be deposited in the holders 18, and be firmly supported by the carrier 40. The tube frame is then lowered by means of the arms 15, which carry shafts &c. 17 for the holders 18. By means of short arms 23 on the shafts and lever mechanism 24, 25, 27, the shafts 17 are rocked to give the tube frame a wiping motion to insert the pile yarn between the warp threads. The tube frame is then slightly raised and the yarn is cut by means of front and rear knives. The tube frame is then raised to its original position and attached to the carrying chains, the hooks 31 being operated for this purpose. The levers 33 are formed as arcs concentric with the shafts 17, so as to have operative engagement with the slides 32 in every angular position of the holders 18.
