Abstract

222,536. Arbon, P. May 30, 1923. Priming. - Comprises an arrangement of injectors in which natural gas under pressure is utilized to raise oil from wells and applicable also for assisting in priming the pumps in wells using pumps for elevating oil. The injectors 6 are arranged above and below a packer 5 fitting in a casing 1 and surrounding the eduction pipe 3 and comprise a number of passages 17, Fig. 4, through which the inducing-fluid passes, surrounding the oil jet 10. The pressure at which the injectors work can be varied by rotating the seat 20 of a spring-pressed ball valve 18 arranged in the jet passages 17. If the natural gas pressure is insufficient to raise the oil completely, the jets above the packer may be operated by artificial pressure introduced through the casing head 2. When excess of water is present in the well the construction shown in Fig. 2 may be used, in which separate eduction tubes 31, 32 are provided, reaching into the oil and water respectively, each of the tubes 'being provided with injectors for the separate elevation of the oil and water. When the natural gas pressure exceeds requirements a short tube 33, Fig. 3, not reaching to the oil is provided so that a portion of the natural gas escapes to work the jets above the packer 5.
