Abstract

A childs tandem is made from two separate bicycles. The front half comprises a standard frame with the rear wheel assembly removed, and the rear half comprises a similar frame with the front steering assembly removed. The two are welded together at 1. The rear frame can be modified by providing a lower bottom tube 5 for added strength. The brakes are those of the original wheel assemblies. The rear wheel may be provided with a pedal operated brake for added safety, and the rear handlebars are carried on a stem attached to the original top tube. <IMAGE>

Description

CHILDS TANDEM This invention relates to a childs Tandem. The Tandem consists of two seperate bicycles, the rear bicycle has had its front forks and steering stem removed, then welded in line with the front frame.
The rear bottom bar is added for strength, and it also makes the Tandem more ridged.
The rear bicycle's back forks where changed for the rear fork's from the front bicycle.
The rear wheel is driven by a double crank on the rear frame. Enableing it to be ridden by one or two children. The seats and handlebars are adjustable, to allow for various size of children to ride with ease.
As well as the front and rear brakes, the Tandem has a rear pedel brake. On the back wheel, as an added precaution the rear fork's lower tube on the side of the crank, is shaped where it is joined to the frame, to enable it to take the double crank.

Claims (7)

1. A childs Tandem consisting of two bicycle frame's joined in a way suitable for two children to ride at any one given time.
2. A childs Tandem as claimed in Claim 1 wherein a rear bottom bar is added for strength and ridgedness.
3. A childs Tandem as claimed in 1 and 2 with adjustable seats and handlebars.
4. A childs Tandem as claimed in any preceding Claim, wherein the rear wheel has a safety pedal brake.
5. A childs Tandem as claimed in any preceding Claim, wherein the rear wheel is driven by a double crank on the rear frame.
6. A childs Tandem as claimed in any preceding Claim, wherein the rear fork's lower tube on the rear frame, is shaped on the side of the crank, to enable it to take the double crank.
7. A childs Tandem substantially as described herein with reference to Figure 1 of the accompanying drawing.
