Abstract
222,092. Leicknam, G. J. M. Sept. 19, 1923, [Convention date]. Casting and moulding in situ.-For filing up interstices, fractures, &c., and for spraying plaster and the like, a cement gun is used connected to a water-pressure supply, the apparatus being operated in such a manner that each charge of material is ejected in a series of gushes caused by opening and closing the delivery valve D so that before each gush the pressure rises to the pressure of the pump. The gun T is filled with the filling material and the air-escape valve t is then opened. Water pressure is supplied by a pump P or other supply through a valve A, another valve B allowing the discharge of the material and water to the injector pipe R, I<1>. Pressure gauges may be employed to register the water pressure and fall of pressure, and an auxiliary pressure pipe a may be employed to assist discharge. In a modification, Fig. 4, the material is fed continuously from a hopper S by a screw to the outlet K, water pressure being supplied through pipes l or through a central aperture of the screw. In a further modification, the screw chamber may be disposed at right-angles to the pressure-supply chamber. In both these modifications, pellets of the charge are fed into the throat q blocking this throat and causing the pressure to rise before the pellet is discharged, thus delivering the material as before in a series of gushes.
