Abstract

222,091. Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Bethel, C.). Sept. 22, 1923, [Convention date]. Electric railway motorcars; motors, mounting or supporting. - The body is supported, with or without a swinging spring bolster, on a housing for a plurality of electromotors, the housing being carried by a plurality of axles by means of springs. Fig. 1 shows a plan of a two-axle bogie with two motors, and Fig. 3 shows a section on the line III-III of Fig. 1. The housing 1 enclosing the electromotors with driving pinions 3 is supported by springs on axle boxes 3<a>, the springs being directly interposed between the pedestal jaws and the axle boxes. The weight of the vehicle is transmitted to the middle part of the housing through a swing bolster 20, springs 22, a bolster plate 23, and transversely swinging links 24. In a modification, Fig. 8, the ends of the housing are supported on the axle by means of springs resting on an axle housing 40 with bearing sleeves 37.
