Axle - trucks and bogies springs, arrangement of. - In order to avoid the use of bogie frames of heavy construction and to dispense with the ordinary king-pins, the weight of the body of an electric locomotive, tramcar or like vehicle is transmitted to the axles through the medium of springs 2, Fig. 2, which are mounted directly on the axles 3 and are connected at their ends to the vehicle body by pendulum links 1 or similar means permitting a. limited relative movement between the body and axles, while two or more bogie frames 4 are employed each having at least one pair of wheels and the frames being interconnected for correlating their radiating movements. In the construction shown a pair of twowheeled bogies frames 4 are used, and the body is supported at each side by means of four pendulum links 1 of which the end sets are connected directly to the springs 2, while the intermediate sets are connected to bogie frame extensions 5 which have a sliding bearing at 9 on the springs 2. Each wheel, which is preferably of a resilient construction, is independently driven by a separate motor 10 carried by the frame 4, and the two wheels of a bogie may be freely mounted on a through axle or independently mounted on short axles.
