Crushers with vibrating jaws. - Relates to a jaw-crusher for reducing ores, rock, stone, bone, grain, &c. of the type in which a crushing-jaw oscillated by an eccentric at one end is supported at its other end in proximity to a rotatable roller by means capable of yielding when some very hard object comes between the jaw and the roller. The jaw is supported by a toggle system the elements of which are normally maintained substantially in line by a spring. A roller or cylinder is arranged between the roller and the inside of the machine frame to prevent backward rotation of the roller. The roller 5 may comprise an outer hollow cylindrical shell 6 of steel &c. and a centrepiece 7 with radial arms 8 at each end, the space between the shell 6 and piece 7 being filled with cement, concrete, &c. The swing- jaw 12 suspended from the eccentric shaft 13 is fitted with a renewable wearing-plate 15 secured by a bar 16 bolted to the bottom of the jaw. The toggle 26 bears at one end against a wearing- block 27 on the jaw 12, and at the other end against a piece 30 having a rounded rib 31 engaging in a curved recess 32 in a piece 28 adjustable by means of a wedge 29. The piece 30 has a rounded upward extension 34 which engages a recess in a plate 35 fitting into the lower end of a helical spring 36, the upper end of which is fitted with a plate 38 engaged by an adjusting- screw 39. The recess 37 in the piece 30 for the edge of the toggle 26 is at a slightly higher level than the recess 32. A buffer arrangement consisting of two rods 47 passing through the back end of the frame 1 and working against rubber blocks 48 is placed below the toggle-plate 26 and at the sides thereof. At the front ends, the rods 47 are attached to a bent plate 49 fitting a groove 50 in the bottom of the jaw 12 and retained therein by the bar 16. A loose piece of pipe or a solid roller or cylinder 51 between the roller 5 and the end of the frame 1 and above the axis of the roller prevents the roller from moving backwards.
