Abstract

Relays.-In a relay provided with an armature mounted on pivots which are adjustable to vary an air gap between the armature and a core adjacent to the pivots, the adjusting means is arranged to be immediately accessible. The coils 8, 9 are provided respectively with flat cores 10, 11 connected by a member 2, and one end of the armature 12 is pivoted at 7 to the U-shaped end of a spring strip 1 secured at its other end to the member 2. A screwed stud 4 carried by the member 2 is fitted with an adjusting nut 3 bearing against the strip 1. To the other end of the armature is secured a contact-carrying member 13 movable between adjustable front and back contact screws 14, 15. A spiral spring 5 acts on the member 13 to hold it against the screw 15 when the relay is inoperative, and is provided with a rotatable adjusting head 6, acting on the centre of the spring, for varying the armature tension.
