Stroke, limiting; single-acting bucket pumps; locking and releasing devices. - A closure for vessels containing sauces &c. comprises a pump barrel 2 forming part of the cover 11 and carrying a suction pipe 3 and suction valve 4. The piston 5 is pressed upwards by a spring 6 and has an axial channel 2' controlled by a valve 7 and opening into a lateral discharge nozzle 8. Means are provided to prevent the piston from being pressed down while the vessel 1 is upright, and may comprise a ball 18 in an inclined slot 19 in the piston head, and a channel 21 which is blocked by the ball while the vessel is upright, thereby preventing a pin 20 carried by the barrel 2 from entering the channel 21 and locking the piston. The upward movement of the piston is limited by the head of a screw carried by the barrel engaging a slot in the piston head.
