Abstract

221,618. Brennan, E. A. July 26, 1923. Switches, without quick action. - An earthing-switch for wireless aerials is combined with a safety gap for lightning or static discharges, and with a leading-in tube. The switch-arm B is pivoted in lugs A centrally placed on an insulating base D, and may be thrown i n t o engagement either with clips J on an earthed plate K, or with clips M on a plate N. The aerial wire is attached to a. rod H which is enclosed in a lead-in tube I and is passed through a hole in the base D and screwed into the central lugs A, thus clamping the tube I tightly against the back of the base D. The earthed plate K has a terminal L<1> of the screw or soldered type for the connection of the earth wire, and a socket terminal L for making connection to the earth terminal of the receiving- set. The plate N carries a socket terminal 0 for connection to the aerial terminal of the set. A plate C secured beneath the central lugs A forms with the earthed plate K a safety gap U for lightning or static discharge when the set is in use. One or both of the adjacent edges of the plates C, K may be serrated.
