Washing-machines w i t h axially-moving plungers.- In a combined clothes-washing and wringing machine there are provided means for supporting the plunger so that it can be removed from the wash-tub. The piston-rod o carrying the plunger is pivoted to a shaft p having at each end upwardly and downwardly directed hooked members t, u engaging pins w, v carried by frames x, the upper members t being pinned around the pins w at 3. The frames x are provided with rollers y engaging slotted guides 2 at each end of the machine and are vertically reciprocated through the linkage 5<a>, 6, 9 from a crank disc 11 provided with a half-clutch 15 with which co-operates a manually-actuated corresponding half-clutch 16 splined to the driving shaft 12. A weighted arm 21 is connected to one of the links 6 to balance the weight of the plunger.
