Abstract

221,019. Cousins, H. W. June 7, 1923. Stoppers with valves ; stoppers, means to prevent loss of.-A hollow stopper b for hot water bottles &c. and formed with screw threads b<1> adapted to engage a thread portion a<1> of a neck member a is provided at its lower end with radial projections b<3> adapted to pass up vertical grooves (not shown) in the threaded portion a<1> and to engage, in a circumferential groove a' between the threaded portion a<1> and a check' lip a<3> at the top 'of the neck member a, the arrangement allowing the stopper to be displaced from the neck member without permitting its detachment therefrom. As shown, the projections b<3>, which are arranged longitudinally of the stopper, are L-shaped and a port b<2> permits air or steam to escape during the filling of the bottle. In a modification the circumferential groove is located within the threaded portion of the neck.
