Abstract

A pull-open can comprises two compartments (14,15) which each have a pull-open means. The can is formed as a cylindrical body (10) with end plates (11,12) and is axially divided into two sections (14,15) by a partition wall (13) tightly installed within the cylindrical body (10). A pull-open means can be installed on the partition wall (13) and may be the only pull open means for the compartment (15), the pull open means having a hook-like ended grip (18) extending to a position near an annular seal plate (171) of the pull-open means (17) on the upper end plate (11), so that the grip (18) can be pulled by using the annular seal plate (171) after it has been pulled from the end plate (11). The partition wall (13) is pulled away from its original position and the contents of the compartments can mix. The can can preserve two different drinks, serve the drinks separately (if the lower compartment has its pull- open means in the end wall 12), or even serve a mixed drink by combining the separately preserved contents held in the two compartments. Rim projections formed around the upper and lower end plates may be screw shaped for axially connecting cans together. <IMAGE>

Description

A PULL-OPEN CAN WITH SECTIONS The present invention relates to an improved pullopen can, more particularly to one which has sections for preserving different drinks or serving same drinks separately.
Presently, the pull-open type can has gained momentum in today's drink container field. However, that type of drink container is difficult to arrange neatly or transfer easily when a plurality of containers must be stored or carried. Additionally it is ineffective for holding different drink mixtures which must be preserved separately for reasons of maintaining proper qualities of flavor or nutrition. Further, that type of drink container has only one room for preserving drink, so when it is opened the content of it should be entirely consumed within a short period since the container cannot be reclosed and because the content is usually such that is easily perishable.
The object of the present invention is to provide a can which has sections for preserving different drinks or serving same drinks separately thereby reducing the number of cans which can facilitate easy transfer and neat storage.
An other object of the present invention is to provide a can with sections which can be opened separately so that the preserved drink can be drunk partially.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a can with sections which can be communicated by a simple procedure so that the separately preserved contents can be mixed together.
Accordingly, the present invention provides a tightly-closed can having sections which have a pullopen means respectively. The pull-open means comprises a pull-open seal plate monoblocked on the body of the can and a grip for pulling off the seal plate from the body of the can to open a certain section , which is locked in the seal plate.
Specifically, the above-mentioned can having sections is a cylindrical body with an upper end plate and a lower end plate, which is axially divided into separate sections by one or more partition walls, or which is formed by two or more basic cylindrical cans axially connected together.
More specifically, the above-mentioned can having upper section and lower section axially divided by one partition wall has the pull-open seal plate for the upper section annularly formed on the upper end plate, and the pull-open seal plate for the lower section is formed on the partition wall and is approximately facing the seal plate on the upper plate. Further, the grip of the pull-open seal plate for the lower section is vertically locked in the pull-open seal plate which is formed on the partition wall. This grip has a hook-like end near the seal plate of the upper end plate so that the grip is in a position to be pulled by using the annular seal plate after it is pulled off the upper end plate.
Further, the above-mentioned seal plate of the lower section can be joined integrally with the partition wall to form as only one piece. That is to say, the seal plate of the lower section can be formed by the partition wall and vice versa. When the hook-like end of the above-mentioned grip is pulled up by the annular seal plate after it is pulled off the upper end plate, the partition wall can be torn away or pulled from its original position in the same way a pull-tab is pulled from a can body.
The presently preferred exemplary embodiment will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Fig. 1 is a partially cutaway perspective view of the embodiment according to the present invention; Fig. 2 is a partially cutaway perspective view showing the annular pull-open means of the upper section, which is pulled off the upper end plate; and Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view of the embodiment illustrated in Fig. 1.
Referring to Fig. 1, this embodiment comprises a cylindrical can 10 which has an upper end plate 11 and a lower end plate 12 respectively comprising tightly sealed ends. A partition wall 13 is tightly installed in the mid-position of the inside wall of the can 10 between the upper end plate 11 and the lower end plate 12 so that the can 10 is divided to an upper section 14 and a lower section 15. Therefore, more than one drink can be separately preserved by one can. Further, there are two pull-open means 17,16 which are respectively formed on the upper end plate 11 and the lower end plate 12 so that the contents can be served separately.
As shown in Fig. 1, the pull-open means 17 formed on the upper end plate 11 comprises an annular seal plate 171 monoblocked on the upper end plate 11 and a grip 172 locked in the seal plate 171. There is a hook-like ended grip 18 vertically locked in one position of the partition wall 13, which is facing the seal plate 171, so once the pull-open means 17 is pulled off, the original position of the seal plate 171 shows an annular slot 111 and a tongue plate 112, as shown in Fig. 2. After bending the tongue plate 112, the hook-like end 181 of the grip 18 can be pulled up by using the annular seal plate 171 of the pull-open means 17, so that the partition wall 13 can be torn away or pulled from its original position and the contents of the upper and lower sections 14,15 can be mixed together.
As shown in Fig. 3, this embodiment further comprises a flange-like protrusion 121 peripherally formed around the lower end plate 12. The inside wall of the protrusion 121 is shaped as a female screw 122. A flange-like protrusion 113 is also peripherally formed around the upper end plate 11. This protrusion 113 has a male screw 114 shaped on the outside wall of the same, which is adapted to match with the above-mentioned female screw 122. Therefore, a number of can 10 can be axially connected one by one to a desired height which is most convenient for storage or transfer.
While the invention has been described in connection with what is presently considered to be the most practical and preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that the invention is not to be limited to the disclosed embodiment, but, on the contrary, is intended to cover various modifications and equilvalent arrangements included within the spirit and scope of the broadest interpretation so as to encompass all such modifications and equilvalent arrangements.
