Abstract

The invention relates to a container (1) comprising a wall (2), at least one mouth opening and a separation wall (3) at the inner side of the container arranged at a distance from the mouth opening and defining at least two compartments, wherein the separation wall (3) comprises a part (5) of the wall extending substantially in circumferential direction and to the inner side of the container.
The invention further relates to a method for producing the container (1) by providing a sleeve and applying a separation wall (3) to the inner side of the sleeve such that two compartments are defined, wherein the sleeve is constricted circumferentially to form the separation wall (3).

Description

  • The present invention relates to container comprising a wall, at least one mouth opening and a separation wall at the inner side of the container arranged at a distance from the mouth opening and defining at least two compartments.
  • Such containers are known and are used for example for the preservation of food. In the European patent document EP 995 688 a container is described which comprises at the inner side of the container a separation wall. This separation wall assures that for example different foodstuffs can be stored in the holder without coming in to contact with each other. The advantage of this is that no diffusion of colourings and flavourings can take place from one food stuff to the other. The sensoric properties of the foodstuffs are herewith preserved. It is moreover, possible to put pasturized or sterilized food stuff together with unpasteurized or unsterilized foodstuff in one container.
  • However, a disadvantage of the container described in the above mentioned patent application and of the containers that are presently on the market is that they are very hard to sterilize.
  • Another disadvantage of the above mentioned containers is that the placing of the separation wall at the inner side of the container is relatively expensive. Further the separation wall itself is also relatively expensive.
  • The present invention attempts to solve the above mentioned problems.
  • A first aspect of the invention relates to the mentioned container characterized in that the separation wall comprises a part of the wall extending substantially in circumferential direction and to the inner side of the container.
  • One of the advantages of this container is that it is relatively cheap to apply the separation wall to the inner side of the container. Another advantage of the container according to the invention is that the separation wall itself is relatively cheap.
  • DE-A-3017042 discloses a can having a single compartment having the end defining the mouth opening extending inwardly to provide an edge for a sealing foil to be attached. This document does not disclose a separation wall defining two compartments.
  • Preferably the container according to the invention has a lid arranged for closing the mouth opening. With the separation wall, this provides for two separated and sealed compartments in the container. In this case the lid could be sealed to the mouth opening.
  • In another preferred embodiment, the container according to the invention comprises at least two mouth openings arranged on opposed sides of the container and wherein the separation wall is located between the at least two mouth openings. With this embodiment it is possible to access both compartments independently. Again both mouth openings could be sealed by a lid.
  • In a preferred embodiment of the present invention the separation wall of the container comprises an inner wall, which inner wall is attached to a part of the wall that extends to the inner side of the container. In this preferred embodiment the wall is only partly brought in direction of the inner side of the container, such that an edge is formed on which an inner wall can be applied. This is an advantage for reasons that a relatively cheap inner wall can be used. Another advantage is that an inner wall can be selected that does not react with the content of the container, for example food.
  • It is specifically preferred if the part of the wall extending to the inner side of the container is compressed. This way a firm separation wall can be formed. This is especially of importance when the container is sterilized or pasturized.
  • It is further preferred that the inner wall is attached to the part of the wall extending to the inner side of the container by means of sealing. This way a very good connection between the inner wall and the wall is obtained. Moreover, it is relatively simple to carry out the sealing. It is specifically preferred if the sealing is carried out by a laser. The laser beam enters the container to locally heat the inner wall in order to seal it to the wall.
  • In a preferred embodiment the inner wall comprises a sheet. The sheet is preferably made of aluminum. The advantage of using a sheet is that it is relatively cheap. Another advantage is that specifically an aluminum sheet is relatively strong such that it can be used in containers that are sterilized or pasturized.
  • It is further preferred if the container is made of metal, preferably tin.
  • A second aspect of the present invention relates to a method according to claim 7 to 13 for the preparation of a container according to the invention.
  • The invention will now be further described by means of the following figures. These figures are only meant to illustrate the invention and are in no way intended to limit the scope of the invention.
    • Figure 1 shows a schematic perspective view of the container according to the invention.
    • Figure 2 shows an enlarged cross sectional part of the container according to figure 1.
    • Figure 3 shows a partial cross section of the to the inner side of the container extending part of the wall of the container
    • Figure 4 shows a partial cross section of the wall of figure 3, whereby the to the inner side of the container extending part of the wall of the container is compressed.
  • Figure 1 shows a preferred embodiment of the container 1 according to the invention. The container 1 comprises a wall 2 whereby at the inner side of the container 1 a separation wall 3 is applied. In the preferred embodiment showed, the separation wall 3 comprises an inner wall 4 made of a sheet. The inner wall 4 is attached to the part 5 of the wall 2 extending to the inner side of the container 1 by means of sealing. This way a firm connection between the inner wall 4 and the wall 2 is obtained.
  • Figure 2 shows an enlarged part of the container 1 of figure 1. The separation wall 3 comprises an inner wall 4 and a part 5 of the wall 2 extending to the inner side of the container 1. This part 5 of the wall 2 is compressed. This way the inner wall 4 can be attached firmly to part 5 of the wall 2.
  • Figure 3 shows a schematic cross section of another preferred embodiment which comprises a part 5 of the wall 2 extending to the inner side of the container. The wall 2 of the container 1 is partially constricted in circumferential direction. To this constricted part 5 of the wall 2 an inner wall 4 can be attached by means of sealing such that a separation wall 3 is formed.
  • Figure 4 shows a cross section of the wall 2 according to figure 3. In this preferred embodiment the to part 5 of the wall 2 extending to the inner side of the container 1 is compressed. On this part 5 of the wall 2 an inner wall 4 can be applied such that a separation wall 3 is formed. By compressing the part 5 of the wall 2 a very firm connection between the wall 2 and the inner wall 4 is obtained.
