Abstract

The hardfruit is decorated by the action upon its skin of sunlight through a sun filter. The sun filter is affixed to the growing hardfruit at the beginning of the ripening process and, after harvesting, is removed to display upon the skin of the hardfruit the desired representation. <IMAGE>

Description

A DECORATED HARDFRUIT This invention relates to a Decorated Hardfruit.
Hardrruit is the collective noun for Apples and Pears, which are widely grown, normally with as much skin colour as possible, and marketed as nutritional foods. However, the sale of hardfruit often suffers in comparison with more visually exotic fruits.
According to the present invention, there is provided a decorated hardfruit by means of the application of a sun filter to the surface of the hardfruit.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example, The invention operates on those species of hardfruit in which the colour of the mature fruit is markedly different from that of the unripe fruit.
At the precise time when the hardfruit has reached maximum size, but before the ripening process has begun, a suitable sun filter is secured in immediate juxtaposition to, or upon the surface of the growing hardfruit, by means of, for example, adhesive. The filter is nade of any suitable material or materials and is shaped, constructed, and/or coloured so as to provide areas of varying translucency.
After harvesting, the filter is removed to display, clearly marked upon the skin of the hardfruit, the desired decoration.
