Rotary machines. - In a stop-cylinder rotary machine in which the impression cylinder 1 is driven from the printing-cylinder 3 by a gear wheel 13 and a mutilated gear 14 and is held stationary by a spring-controlled locking device 19 for a number of revolutions, the cylinder 1 is driven again after the desired interval by a fixed pawl 15 on the printing-cylinder shaft which engages a pawl formed of two hinged parts 16, 24 controlled by a lever arm 18. The lever arm 18 is driven by gearing 12, 11, 21, 22, 23 from the printing-cylinder, and is arranged to hold the part 16 folded down out of the path of the pawl 15 for as many revolutions as the cylinder 3 is driven while the cylinder 1 is held stopped. A spring then neturns the part 16 into the active position, and the cylinder 1 is then again rotated.
