Abstract
219,133. Pate, G., Mercer, J. H., and Laird, J. R. May 30, 1923. Ratchet gearing is controlled by means of an electromagnet 1 with an armature 2, formed as a collar on the pawl-actuating rod 3 and arranged so that, at the end of each stroke, the collar 2 closely approaches the magnet. The latter is in circuit with a contactor 5 of which the solenoid 6 is in series with the driving-motor armature 4 so that, as the load rises, the solenoid becomes more highly energized and the contactor is closed, thereby energizing the magnet 1 which attracts the collar 2 and renders the rod 3 inoperative.
