Abstract

219,056. Ferguson, H. J. March 20, 1923. Hooks, spring, safety, slip, and closed.-Relates to boat-releasing gear and particularly for simultaneous releasing of the bow and stern when launching wherein the releasing hooks are positively moved and positively locked in the closed position and consists in providing a sliding bar with slots adapted to engage two projecting levers on the hook. The hook 2 is pivoted at 6 between brackets 19, Fig. 1, and has a projecting lever 9 which engages a slot 12 in a slidable bar 11 whereby the hook can be rotated on its pivot and also a projecting lever 7 adapted to pass through a slot 13 and engage a cross member 16 of the bar 11 for locking the hook in its upright closed position. The curvature of the under surface of the bill 5 may be uniform about the pivot 6 or variable. The brackets 19 have a recess 20 for taking the chain link, and the base 20<a> has openings through which the levers can pass. Each bar 11 is operated by a lever 30, Fig. 4, connected by a rod 28 with a single operating lever 23 for simultaneous actuation. The rod 28 is disposed on one of the gunwales.
